We all have heard about 2nd hand smoke, but 3rd hand?

We've all heard about the dangers of second hand smoke, but what about third-hand smoke?

New evidence supports third-hand smoke may be just as dangerous, especially to children.

What is third-hand smoke? Third-hand smoke is the chemical residue created by cigarettes, and it clings to bedding, carpet, furniture, clothes and your environment. The residue contains the same cancer-causing chemicals that are in cigarettes. Cigarette and other tobacco smoke contain more than 4,000 different chemicals including benzene, formaldehyde, ammonia, acetone, tar, and carbon monoxide.

Children exposed to third-hand smoke are put at greater risk for chronic ear infections, chronic respiratory infections, and possibly far more serious problems that are still unknown.

This new look at third-hand smoke proves that the only way to prevent adults and children from toxic smoke exposure 100% is to quit smoking, period. These chemicals seep into clothes and hair, which means that even limiting smoking to outdoors still puts children at risk.

Although the concept of third hand smoke is relatively new, studies show that third hand residue can become airborne again- a vicious cycle that is only stopped by quitting smoking.

Anniversary

It's been nice receiving all the compliments and well wishes on our 9th Anniversary.  I've been asked a variety or questions as well, does it ever get old?  Do you still have the passion you did when you started?  I bet you have seen some scary scenario's over the years?  Did you ever feel that you're treating someone, and they have no intentions of Quitting Smoking?  What is the most addictive patient that you have treated, by that I mean how many packs of cigarettes a day did they smoke?  Do you or have you treated for any other addictions?
If your mind has thought about it, we have probably treated or helped a patient Quit Smoking.  It never gets boring and we never get two patients with the same DNA or chemical makeup!  I love doing what I do, as it is a challenge everyday.  If it was easy, it wouldn't be any fun, and we would become bored.  So thank you for the 9 years, and we will continue to help those wishing to kick the habit, and lead a healthier lifestyle!

Fibromyalgia

Chronic widespread body pain is the primary symptom of fibromyalgia. Both men and women with fibromyalgia often experience moderate to extreme fatigue, sleep disturbances, sensitivity to touch, light, and sound, and cognitive difficulties. Many individuals also experience a number of other symptoms and overlapping conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome, lupus and arthritis.

Pain The pain of fibromyalgia is profound, chronic and widespread. It can migrate to all parts of the body and vary in intensity. FM pain has been described as stabbing and shooting pain and deep muscular aching, throbbing, and twitching. Neurological complaints such as numbness, tingling, and burning are often present and add to the discomfort of the patient. The severity of the pain and stiffness is often worse in the morning. Aggravating factors that affect pain include cold/humid weather, non-restorative sleep, physical and mental fatigue, excessive physical activity, physical inactivity, anxiety and stress.

Fatigue In today's world many people complain of fatigue; however, the fatigue of FM is much more than being tired after a particularly busy day or after a sleepless night. The fatigue of FM is an all-encompassing exhaustion that can interfere with occupational, personal, social or educational activities. Symptoms include profound exhaustion and poor stamina,

Sleep problems Many fibromyalgia patients have an associated sleep disorder that prevents them from getting deep, restful, restorative sleep. Medical researchers have documented specific and distinctive abnormalities in the Stage 4 deep sleep of FM patients. During sleep, individuals with FM are constantly interrupted by bursts of awake-like brain activity, limiting the amount of time they spend in deep sleep.

Other signs, symptoms, and overlapping conditions Additional symptoms may include: irritable bowel and bladder, headaches and migraines, restless legs syndrome (periodic limb movement disorder), impaired memory and concentration, skin sensitivities and rashes, dry eyes and mouth, anxiety, depression, ringing in the ears, dizziness, vision problems, Raynaud's Syndrome, neurological symptoms, and impaired coordination.

Laser Therapy has had GREAT results helping our patients to live pain free.  We wish you well.
Good health,

Amazing

This past week we had perhaps one of our toughest Weight-Loss challenges yet!  We had a cancer survivor that received the reverse conditions from chemo therapy, as you know, when a person goes thru this type of treatment, they generally lose weight etc., This young lady gained weight, and as she put it "became a freak of nature".  She has always exercised, eats healthy, but couldn't lose any weight?  The main reason, when receiving dramatic dosages of chemo therapy, this alters our body, including our metabolism.  We worked on the metabolism during her fisrt treatment, and she lost 2lbs. eating regular table fare.  We will follow her progress in weeks to come, but if you know of someone that has experienced the above changes in his or her life, let us know.
We wish you well.
Good health,
Mike

Smoke Cessation Program

A lot of people ask, how does Low Level Laser Therapy work to help me quit smoking?  Is there zapping involved?  What do you do zap, my brain?  Does it hurt?  Where do you Laser me?  Can I drive home afterwards?  I will answer the above questions, and if there are some other questions that you may have, this is the place to ask them.

Ok, first of all, there is NO ZAPPING!  Low Level Laser Therapy is totally painless & non-invasive.  We work on the acupressure points of the body, more commonly known as the auricular and meridian points of the body.  The arricular & meridian points allow us to control various addicting issues a patient would normally go through when trying to quit smoking.  The most demanding being the "cravings & withdrawals", their appetite, and irritability.  We have not only been able to take care of the most demanding aspects of the addiction listed above, but also, NO SIDE EFFECTS!  It doesn't matter what type of medications you're on!  When the treatment is done, you're left in a very relaxed state, and a good sense of well being!  I hope this helps you with the process and the first step for you is, set a date in your mind when you would like to quit. Then pick up the phone and make the appointment - our number is (603) 644-QUIT (7848).

Welcome to our new Blog!

Tonight, we're turning a new, innovative and creative way to help you Quit Smoking!  We have been asked by our patients can we chat or talk from time to time about their addiction.  We all agreed to make the time, after all, smoking is more addicting than heroin or cocaine.  So, I will be happy to write, chat, and listen, to help each and everyone of you!

So, I also invite your suggestions on how we can help you and look forward to talking to you!

Good health,

Mike
